Be sure to check out Belem Tower by the waterfront and also the Jeronimos Monastery, resting place of Vasco da Gama.
Parque das Naçoes (Nations Park - the former Expo 98 site) has lots of shops, bars, restaurants and one of the world’s largest aquariums - the Oceanario.
There are lots of museums, including the Museu Calouste Gulbenkian and the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga.
Alternatively, just wander through the historical quarters, and enjoy some Sangria and Fado.
